Set Building London: Winterville is located on London's Clapham Common and features a range of attractions including an outdoor ice rink, cinema, a crazy golf course, fairground rides, a roller disco and a market filled with creations from independent designers. The site also features various themed bars, which is where The Halo Group's set design services were utilised.
Our brief was to create a free standing set design and fascia to hide the organisers large standard white marquee and transform it into a fully themed temporary venue. The venue formed the main bar on site at the event, welcoming many guests across the course of each evening throughout the season. The sheer size of the marquee presented a considerable challenge, a prospect relished by our creative team on receipt of the brief. In addition to creating a specialist fascia for this part of the project, our brief also included the fabrication of a range of bespoke bar signs across site.
To achieve the end result, The Halo Group’s in-house set design team started by designing the fascia at our London studios. Once signed off by the client, we prefabricated each of the elements required for the set at our workshop. The Halo Group’s carpentry team painstakingly cut each of the architectural features before sanding, torching and varnishing each panel to create an authentic finish in line with the saloon theme. To complete the project, our specialist set build team proceeded to construct the fascia in front of the marquee on site before fitting signage and general lighting throughout.
