The Halo Group is the proud production partner to Backyard Cinema, London's favourite pop-up cinema series. Each season we create a new theme for the organisers. In the summer of 2017 we created a tongue in cheek, retro inspired Miami Beach set build using a range of scenic construction techniques.
The brief for this series took inspiration from 80s Miami in all its kitsch-cool cheesy glory. Think Miami Vice, Don Johnson, tropical colours, neon detail, pastel beach huts & art deco architecture and you get the picture. Using a selection of creative production, scenic construction, set dressing and general styling techniques our award-winning team set about transforming the space into a laid back playground for all to enjoy.
To achieve the end result our scenic construction team started by creating the beach, using 20 tonnes of imported sand. Once the ground work was laid, the space was dressed with tropical florals and foliage, neon painted signage, vivid coloured backdrops, individually sourced props including a reclaimed boat, deckchairs, inflatables and of course an iconic Miami feature – a life guard hut! The Halo Group’s creative direction really helped bring the space to life in a vibrant and fun design. We love working for Backyard Cinema. Never taking themselves too seriously, they never fail to deliver a great experience to all their loyal followers.
