Walkers Crisps

Set Design

The Halo Group created a Pop-Up Shop Design for the #WalkersCrispSarnieClub campaign. This highly original project helped celebrate the much underrated lunchtime, teatime, any time flavour-filled snack - the humble crisp sarnie, in a fun, tongue in cheek PR stunt from our client Initials Marketing.

The campaign stated: "The crisp sarnie, one of the great creations of our time, is finally getting the recognition it deserves thanks to Walkers, who have teamed up with Heinz to launch a limited edition range of sandwich flavoured crisps. From Cheese Toastie & Worcester Sauce to Bacon & Tomato Ketchup, all your fave sarnie flaves are there. And that’s not all…Walkers are also opening an exclusive, speakeasy-style club celebrating the holy union of crisp and sandwich. Hidden behind a newsagents in London Bridge, the club features a build-your-own crisp sarnie experience and more immersive treats, but you’ll need to find it AND know the password to get in and chow down"

The Brief

Initials Marketing provided the creative for the project and The Halo Group built the pop-up shop design. The entire venue was transformed into an immersive space as part of this exciting experiential campaign. The brief required the design of an unassuming, everyday newsagents as the front for the clandestine Walkers Crisp Sarnie Club – a pop-up, speakeasy-style establishment where crisp sarnie- lovers could go to enjoy a crisp sarnie or two. When guests spoke the words: ‘I’M BARMY FOR SARNIES,’ to the friendly shopkeeper they were granted access to crisp sarnie heaven!

Pop-Up Shop Design

The Solution

The Halo Group started by creating the false shop front by applying a printed vinyl to the outside window of the offices complete with sign writing, newspaper advertisements and other typical newsagent features. Inside the shop, the theme continued. Here the shop keeper, perched behind the counter sold goods to customers oblivious to the hidden secrets beyond the staff only sign. Here, a secret door behind the crisps shelf revealed a walkway leading to the reveal, a reception area featuring a large Walkers lightbox and branding. Here sarnie fans were welcomed into this secret society. Once registered, guests were shown to our pop-up shop set build. Here, The Halo group had transformed an empty office into a fully authentic cafe. Walkers branding, assets and creative messaging were spread throughout the space to bring bring the campaign on brand.
