In 2015 The Halo Group won a contract to create a pop-up bar design for the hotly anticipated "Magic Roundabout" project on top of Old Street roundabout. The Halo Group is renowned within the pop-up bar design sector so organisers Burger Bear engaged our services to help create a concept ahead of the launch party.
Our brief was to create a unique identity for Burger Bear in the popular and thriving East London pop-up market place. With a nod to the retro architecture, we were tasked to bring a modern twist to the pop-up bar design through creative production, bespoke structures, installations and art pieces. The space required partial shelter from the elements, open air courtyard areas, seating areas and a dance floor.
To achieve the look we constructed the main bar frame using our modular steel build system. Our system is ideal for creating pop-up bar design concepts and semi permanent structures. This was then clad in timber and painted with scenic effects to create an industrial inspired unit. In addition to the main bar, the Relax Bar was also created using our steel build system. Here the industrial theme continued with metal bar stools, exposed RSJ beams and metal cladding. For street food vendor Prawnography, we constructed a shack from wood and styled it as a fisherman’s hut in line with their brand identity. We embellished the structure with fishing props such as nets, lobster pots and anchors to bring the shack to life. Various seating areas were then constructed onsite for guests’ comfort. The site’s architectural features were used for inspiration for our art pieces which helped set the tone of the space which also featured multiple textures throughout the venue such as concrete, stone, metal and wood.
