The North Face

Multi Storey Event Structure

The Halo Group worked with lead experiential agency BIGGER on behalf of The North Face to create a multi storey event structure at the Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Festival to promote the brand's revolutionary new technology. The event took place at Battersea Evolution between the 29th of October & 1st of November 2019.

The North Face Say “The North Face delivers an extensive line of performance apparel, equipment, and footwear. We push the boundaries of innovation so that you can push the boundaries of exploration. We remain deeply proud to be the first choice of the world's most accomplished climbers, mountaineers, extreme skiers, snowboarders, endurance runners, and explorers…For the first time ever, we’ve added air permeability to a waterproof membrane. Unlike conventional membranes, the Nano structure of the FUTURELIGHT™ membrane allows air to pass through for better venting and breathability without sacrificing waterproofness and durability”

The Brief

Lead experiential agency BIGGER. approached The Halo Group to help design and build an eye-catching multi storey event structure to promote FUTURELIGHT technology at the show. The client required a multi-level structure to house a retail unit on the ground floor and an immersive environment spread throughout the structure. A roof top viewing platform was included in our design, overlooking the ski jump and music stage.

The Solution

The Halo Group provided multi storey structure design and build services for the project. Big Production House provided the fit out and cladding, Display Ways provided the branding and CLARITAS installed the tech, AV and lighting. The internal finish was inspired by the benefits of The North Face products, featuring multiple textures and materials to create an immersive environment for Instagrammers. The space was lit using a range of lighting techniques and projections to bring the activation to life.

For our scope we utilised our unique modular steel build system to create a bespoke frame for the project. The process started on receiving a clear and defined vision from BIGGER. which included concept renders of the structure. Our in-house design team took inspiration from this and adapted the design, so it could be constructed within a tight overnight build schedule, whilst maintaining the original creative direction. Our specialist structural build team worked from detailed technical plans to create an imposing 12mx12m footprint activation which stood 6m at its highest point.

Our build system is unique. Its modular design allows us to adapt to most briefs, such as The North Face activation at Battersea Evolution. Its versatility sets it apart from other temporary event structures and it is the most customizable product on the market. These features allow for almost any material to be directly fixed to our frame such as cladding, branding, AV and tech. We used many of these benefits on The North Face project to great effect.
